Recent Modern Kitchen Renovation Project
Our Client approached NMB to transform her traditional 1900s property in Prestwich, Manchester by creating a modern open-plan kitchen diner. As experienced kitchen fitters in Manchester, we managed the entire project from initial design through to full installation.
The project involved removing the dividing wall between the rear living room and dining room and installing a structural steel beam to support the new open-plan layout. This allowed the space to feel brighter, more spacious and better connected for everyday living.
Additional works included replacing the existing windows with new patio doors, a full kitchen rewire, new plumbing for the kitchen installation, plastering, updated lighting with recessed spotlights, new radiators, and the installation of new flooring throughout.
The finished space features a contemporary Outline Porter Portal kitchen with an oak backplate detail and a striking central island in quartz. This creates a functional, modern kitchen designed around how the client uses the space day-to-day.

The client selected a combination of colours for her kitchen. The doors are in Majestic Teal and Oak. Creating a striking yet balanced contrast that works beautifully alongside the Oak style wood flooring and Quartz worktops.
The Porter Portal Door is available in 32 Paint to Order colours, so you can choose a look for your home. From soft, understated neutrals to bold statement tones, the palette offers something for every style. The handle is portal and the backplate is Oak. 7 further backplate options are available.
For a more personalised finish, a colour match service is also available, allowing you to achieve a completely bespoke shade tailored to your space.

The chosen worktop material in this kitchen is the 30mm quartz called Amber. The client opted to have the matching upstands and window sills.

The flooring used throughout the kitchen, dining area is an LVT Tile Oiled Oak Versailles.
A Complete Kitchen Transformation in Prestwich, Manchester
This Prestwich kitchen renovation is a great example of how structural changes, considered design and carefully selected materials can completely reshape how a home is used. The original layout consisted of a separate rear living room and dining room, which felt disconnected and limited both light and functionality.
The brief was to create a bright, open-plan kitchen diner that would better suit modern living, while introducing a clean, contemporary aesthetic with warm, natural detailing.
Working closely with Mags, we reimagined the layout to open up the space and create a cohesive kitchen and dining area designed around day-to-day living.
Open-Plan Layout & Structural Alterations
To achieve the new layout, we removed the dividing wall between the rear living room and dining room and installed a structural steel beam to support the opening. This instantly transformed the space, allowing natural light to flow more freely and creating a much more connected and sociable environment.
As part of the transformation, the existing windows were removed and replaced with new patio doors, further enhancing natural light and improving the connection between the kitchen and garden.
Kitchen Design & Layout
The new kitchen features the Outline Porter Portal range, offering a sleek handleless design with a unique level of customisation. For this project, an oak backplate was selected, introducing warmth and texture that contrasts beautifully with the modern cabinetry.
A central island forms the focal point of the space, providing additional storage, preparation space and a natural gathering point for everyday living and entertaining. The overall layout has been carefully designed to maximise flow, usability and visual balance.
Worktops, Services & Finishing Touches
The island is finished in amber quartz with waterfall edges, adding a premium feel and creating a strong visual statement within the space. Complementary finishes and detailing help tie the overall design together, balancing modern styling with more natural elements.
This project also involved a full upgrade of services, including a complete rewire, new plumbing for the kitchen layout, installation of new radiators, updated lighting with recessed spotlights, plastering throughout and new skirting boards.
To add character and definition to the dining area, brick slips were installed, creating a subtle feature that enhances the overall aesthetic of the space.

This bathroom uses a soft stone-inspired colour palette made up of warm greys, pale limestone tones and subtle natural veining. The large-format porcelain tiles combine light silvery greys with hints of beige and mineral textures. This creates a calm, contemporary backdrop that reflects natural light and keeps the space feeling open and airy.
These cooler stone shades are balanced with warm oak cabinetry and soft white sanitaryware. It gives the room a clean, spa-like feel without looking cold or clinical. The overall effect is a timeless neutral scheme. Which works beautifully with both modern and classic interiors. It make the bathroom feel elegant, relaxed and easy to live with.

Our client selected Bay Green for the lower cabinetry and Olive Green for the upper cabinetry. These colours are both from the PWS colour collection.
This range offers complete flexibility. You can choose from the full PWS palette or even match colours from premium paint brands such as Farrow & Ball. Simply provide us with a paint name or sample, and we’ll create your bespoke finish.

Crathorne Outline with “edge” handle
In this recent project, we changed our client’s home. We opened up the kitchen and dining room. This created a spacious, bright, open-plan area. We removed the existing conservatory and installed sleek aluminium bi-fold doors, seamlessly connecting the kitchen to the garden. A new kitchen window was also fitted to maximise natural light.
The standout feature of this bespoke kitchen is the cabinetry. We used our Crathorne Outline kitchen doors. They are finished in Porcelain and Regiment for a modern and timeless look. These bespoke kitchen doors feature integrated Edge handles with beautiful Walnut backplates, offering a clean and elegant design.
The worktops, sill, and upstands are made from Quartz Irini. They have a beautiful waterfall edge on the kitchen island for a luxurious look.
We also installed a stylish LVT floor throughout, adding warmth and durability. The new butler’s pantry includes integrated lighting, providing practical and hidden storage space.

Bespoke Bathrooms MANCHESTER

Michelle and Tom are existing clients of ours, going back a number of years. Previously, we completed a full kitchen refurbishment in their former home. Subsequently, they engaged us again to design a bespoke bathroom in their new property.
This was a joy to work on, and as you can see, this one is a stunner! 10mm thick solid Terrazzo tiles are a seriously luxurious tile. Lovely to the touch and visually stunning.
The clients supplied the bathroom suite, including the bespoke vanity unit, which works perfectly in the space. At the time of writing this (3rd July 2025), we are now in the process of starting the kitchen and dining room renovation, which we cannot wait to see completed. Coming Soon….

What is the name of this range?
The bathroom suite on this project was chosen and supplied by our clients Tom & Michelle. We do have our own ranges to choose from but if you want to choose elsewhere you are more than welcome to do so.
Moreover, we absolutely love the solid Terrazzo tiles. We mitred them around the sill and niches, creating a simply stunning finish.
Colours
The clients have gone for earthy tones here with the solid oak vanity unit, natural marble worktop, terrazo tiles and a rich terracotta colour paint on the walls which ties everything together beautifully. Excellent choices throughout
What type of worktop
Although this option is usually here for kitchen worktops we do leave it if bathrooms are having a quartz or granite worktop. This worktop top is called Calcatta
Which style Flooring
I think we may well have touched on the Terrazo tiles? Did we mentio them yet? Ah we did? So as you can see from the photos, We covered the floor with the same tiles as the wall.

Kitchen Refurbishment IN prestwich
Jemma and Michael first approached NMB in the summer of 2024 to discuss a potential refurbishment of the back end of their property in Prestwich, Manchester. The project also included major changes to the structure. It involved changing floor levels, bricking up a back door, and adding new French doors to the dining area.
We also renovated the chimney in the kitchen using brickslips to give the chimney and authentic look. All planning, design, supplying and installing of all materials by NMB.

This kitchen range is called Porter True Handleless and is a laquered slab door available in bespoke sizes
What Colour Did You Use?
The client went with a dark green colour which in this case is the Bay Green colour. The handless profiles were also painted to Bay Green to match the door fronts.
What type of worktop Is This?
The chosen worktop material in this kitchen is the 30mm quartz in Calcatta Gold. We made the peninsular using the quartz and also fitted a full height splashback behind the hob.
What is The Flooring?
The flooring used in the kitchen, dinin room and throughout the ground floor is and Engineered Oak floor.
